Building our A-team: Bringing the best together to shape what’s next

Updated: Apr 16

As someone who has spent my career developing talent, leading change and building organisations that work better for people, what excites me most about Opera isn’t just the ambition of our strategy, it’s the people who are coming together to deliver it.

Across our group, we are assembling what I genuinely see as our A-team: a diverse mix of business insight, technical depth and entrepreneurial mindset. These aren’t just skills on a page, they are strengths that complement one another, creating a collective capability far greater than the sum of its parts.

Opera was founded with a bold, blank-page mindset. We are intentionally designing the future, not replicating what already exists. While our strategic investment into intelligent technology and transformation is important, it is our people - their judgement, their experience, their drive - that will turn that vision into a different kind of reality for our industry.

Bringing together talent in a way our industry hasn’t before

What makes this journey unique is the way our team is forming.

Talent joining us through acquisitions

Each business in our growing portfolio brings exceptional leadership and deeply capable teams. They bring operational excellence, client trust and entrepreneurial drive - qualities that strengthen the group the moment they join.

Talent developed organically within Opera

Alongside this, we have built a core Opera team with a shared appetite for change and a desire to build something modern, connected and enduring. Their fresh thinking, strategic capability and people-first focus are critical to shaping who we become.

This combination of acquired expertise and organically built strength is powerful. We aren’t simply integrating businesses; we are integrating talent with support teams in a way that sets a new standard for our sector.

Seeing the early impact

We are already seeing strong momentum across the group, supported by key senior appointments. Additions to the Opera Board, including Matt Westgarth-Smith and Xavier Isaac, have strengthened the group’s collective leadership. We have also expanded our leadership with the creation of Group Head of Institutional Clients, Group Head of Private Clients and Group Head of Private Office roles.

These roles reflect the continued evolution of our global offering.

Strength through difference

My experience across HR, operations and supply chain has taught me that organisations perform at their best when different strengths come together with clarity and purpose. I see that happening every day at Opera.

  • Technical specialists raising our standards.

  • Operational minds driving simplicity and scale.

  • Commercial leaders bringing pace and sharp decision-making.

  • People teams helping us shape the culture we are building and supporting development and wellbeing as we evolve.

This is how high-performing organisations are built: through thoughtful combination, not uniformity.

A growing team with global reach

Opera’s portfolio now includes Accuro, Amber Trust (now Oak Bahamas), HFL, Meritus and Oak, operating across eight jurisdictions: Bermuda, Geneva, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, London, Mauritius and The Bahamas.

Together, our 600 colleagues administer $81 billion in assets.

The scale matters. But the capability, collaboration and care of our people matter even more.

Our A-team is forming and this is the moment to join

We are still early in our story and that’s exactly why this stage is so important. The people joining us now will shape the organisation we become and the impact we make for generations to come.

Our A-team is coming together.

We’re building something better, together.

And there is space for more great people to help shape what’s next.
